About Jo
Joβs passion for styling was sparked at the age of 17 when, after falling into the fashion industry, she realised that the majority of women wanted to learn about how to dress for their own style and shape, rather than focusing on what was in fashion. Over the last 15 years, Jo has developed and refined her skills as a stylist, focusing primarily on personal styling whilst also styling photo shoots, fashion parades, visual merchandising, hosting fashion events & style workshops, and presenting in the media. Throughout this time, she has worked in a range of Shopping Centres across Victoria. Jo has styled for Westfield Centres across Victoria and nationally, styling the Autumn/Winter Westfield National Tour, touring Australia with acclaimed international Stylist Gok Wan. She also partnered with DFO centres focusing on styling with a budget. Jo regularly styles photoshoots for the Herald Sun and Body & Soul, focusing on looks for the everyday person.
Most recently, Jo wrote her first book βYour Body, Your Styleβ for the everyday woman. Focusing on body proportions rather than body shape and giving the reader the information to understand what works and why and what doesn't work and why so they are able to make informed and less emotional choices when selecting their clothing and dressing their own body. Through the book she also addressed how we view ourselves, what we see in the mirror and given information and ideas on how to treat ourselves more generously in our perception of our bodies.
This diverse range of experience has allowed her to build strong relationships with numerous Australian and international brands including the Just Group, Sussan Group, Pacific Brands and Apparel Group to name a few. Jo currently consults for many key Australian fashion brands, training their staff in styling and how to best communicate with the customer to ensure the best experience for all in store.
In recent years she has also moved into the uniform space, working with Australian business to design and create uniforms that stylishly fit all staff, regardless of size, age and shape. Her expertise as a personal stylist allows her to work with her designers and businesses to create a uniform that epitomises the brand, whilst being comfortable, easy to wear, stylish, practical and contemporary.
Jo originally trained and performed as an opera singer, taking on lead roles with companies including Opera Australia, performing both in Australia and overseas until a battle with panic attacks and anxiety gave her the opportunity to readdress her priorities and career, encouraging Jo to focus solely on styling. She is now a speaker for Beyond Blue, sharing her story with the wider community, to help reduce stigma and raise awareness.
Jo feels particularly passionate about bringing fashion and style to the everyday person and helping everyone feel confident in how to shop for their personal style, budget, shape and size.
